Scout is operated by Smokestack Games. This page says plainly what we collect and what we do with it. If anything here is unclear, email contact@smokestackgames.com and ask.
What we collect
- If you list a game: the game link, genre, why you're selling, your asking range, your contact, and any analytics CSV exports you upload.
- If you apply for deal flow: your studio or fund name, what you buy, your budget band, and your contact.
- If you subscribe by email: your email address and which page you used.
- If you use the free valuation tool: the numbers you gave us — genre, revenue, retention, DAU — and the estimate we produced. Not your identity. The tool asks for no contact details and we don't set an identifying cookie, so a stored valuation is a set of numbers with nothing attached unless you chose to list your game or gave us an email.
We keep valuations because they're the only real source we have for what Roblox games actually trade at. Every one makes the next estimate better, including the one we'd give you. If you'd rather we didn't keep yours, email us with roughly when you used it and we'll find it and delete it.
We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't set cookies except one that remembers a subscriber's drop access key.
What we do with your analytics exports
Your exports are the sensitive part, so this is the section that matters. We use them to build your listing and to check the numbers are internally consistent and consistent with public Roblox data.
- We publish the derived metrics, not the raw files. A listing shows DAU, retention, MRR, ARPPU, payer conversion, play-through rate and Home Recs share. We never hand your raw CSVs to an acquirer.
- Your game stays anonymous until you say otherwise. Listings identify a game by genre and age. Your game's name, link and your identity are only shared with an acquirer after you approve that specific introduction.
- We don't sell your data. We do use aggregate, anonymized benchmarks — multiples by genre, typical retention, what a game at your size is worth — built from listings and from valuation-tool queries. That's the product: better numbers for everyone using it. It is always aggregate, and it never carries your game's name, link or your identity.
Where it's stored
Submissions are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database in the United States, reached through a service we operate. Access is limited to Smokestack Games staff working on Scout. We keep submissions while your listing is active and for up to 12 months after, so we can answer questions about a past deal.
Deleting your data
Email contact@smokestackgames.com and ask us to remove your listing or your data. We'll pull the listing the same day and delete the underlying files within 30 days. You don't have to give a reason, and there's nothing to cancel — listing is free and carries no agreement.
Third parties
We use Vercel for hosting and storage, Stripe for subscription payments (Stripe handles card details; we never see them), and an email provider to send notifications and the weekly drop. We query Roblox's public API to verify listings — that request contains only a public game ID.
